Overview and breakdown of the Savage Model 29.22lr Pump Action Rifle. An interesting antique rifle, it sports an octagon barrel, handcrafted wood stock. General Specs: Savage, Year 1997,.300 Sav, 7lbs 10oz Serial Number: AS0662 The Savage Model 1895 rifle was the first production lever rifle in America that was developed as a hammerless.Click for more info. If you compare the ports of the model 25 & the 29 models, you can see a great difference in size; plus the weakness, as you pointed out, on the 25's receivers. I RARELY fire my 25, and, as with ALL of the few (sigh) Savage.22 pump rifles I'm fortunate to have, I ONLY shoot standard velocity 'target' ctgs.
